This hands-on course of four online sessions to learn (more) about playing traditional-style klezmer is suitable for intermediate, advanced and professional musicians. All instruments are welcome.

We will look at various aspects of playing klezmer in traditional style, mainly focusing on dance forms, including:

• Ornamentation

• Modality

• Rhythm

• Accompaniment

The classes will include historical and contemporary context, discussion of dance forms, and reference / listening to old recordings.

The course is geared to interactive learning, and there will be opportunities for individual tuition.

Classes will be on Mondays at 19.00 (UK time)
