Whilst the oboe rarely appeared in klezmer bands of the past, you can hear from the sound tracks here that it can be very much part of an ensemble.

On 1950s album Tanz! there is a cor anglais featured on the track Der Yemenite Tanz, used to conjure up an exotic 'oriental' feel.

Klezmer oboists in the later 20th century and today include:

  • Finland Daniel Shaul (also tsimbl)

  • Germany Anne Venske, Thomas Siebert

  • USA Hankus Netsky
