The trumpet was often a part of early klezmer bands - pictures of bands in eastern Europe and the USA show both valve and slide trumpets. It is a very flexible instrument in a klezmer band, playing lead, counter-lines and rhythmic licks.


Klezmer musicians trumpet players in the late 19th and earlier 20th centuries included:
